Christopher R. Bessin

Chris is a 2021 graduate of Innerlight’s Yoga Teacher Training program. He began his yoga journey at Innerlight in 2013. Since then, he has benefitted from exploring many forms of yoga in various studios around New England. His pull towards Innerlight gives his certification and teaching there a deep sense of purpose.
As a marathon runner and pacer, Chris enjoys community within the various local running groups. He has found gentle yoga to be vital to his running recovery and performance, injury reduction, body awareness, as well as his general physical and mental well-being. He also has been certified as a Tae Bo Fitness instructor.
Born in California and having spent most of his life on Aquidneck island, Chris has nourished his love for the ocean. He thoroughly enjoys playing in the waves either bodysurfing, boogieboarding, or kayak surfing, and also enjoys connecting to the energy of the beach through the practice of Tai Chi and Qigong. He was a Sachuest Beach lifeguard for 5 years, which helped him learn to calm the mind and focus on the present moment.

Chris also graduated from URI’s International Engineering Program. Among his duties as an engineer, he provides installation and training for machines in factories all over the US and Mexico. Traveling for work, as well as living in Asia and Europe, he has gained a global perspective and enjoys connecting with people.
Chris’ primary goals as a yoga instructor for his students: through connection with breath and noticing/observing self, promote inner calm, centeredness, emotional nourishment, physical, and mental well-being.
