This is powerful and beneficial practice that builds nervous system resilience and develops introspective awareness. In this class you will learn tools and techniques that will develop and build self regulation and self soothing skills that balance your nervous system, tone your vagus nerve, and literally change the neuroplasticity of your brain.
By approaching the Whole self with compassion and curiosity you will learn how the protective pain response and the stress response are dancing partners in the body systems. You will learn to pause, tune inward, and discern when, where, and how you are moving from tension led patterns that perpetuate the stress pain anxiety loop. By paying close and tender attention to your stress pain and anxiety, you will experience deep awareness.
Practicing slow conscious and intentional movement you turn on the parasympathetic nervous system (Rest Digest Restore Renew) and turn off the stress response (pain tension constriction anxiety). This reduces inflammation increases immune function and elicits a healing response in the mind body complex. The practice integrates intelligent supported Restorative poses, breath based mindful movement and guided visualization. The work is sequential progressive and based in loving kindness and a whole hearted attitude. The goal is not to eliminate avoid or numb our pain, but to evolve our relationship to it and manage our response to it.
