Join Kim to restore a sense of connection with your self through body and mind.

When: October 11-13, 2019

Why: Under the influence of everyday life, and the responsibilities we bear, as well as through traumas large and small, our sense of connection to our self may become weak, or disconnected. In this retreat, your natural robust aliveness is restored.
Gentle yoga awakens the body. Through unhurried, mindful movement you cultivate an attentive, curious,
open attention to whatever is arising in the moment through your body. Likewise, in a quiet, contemplative environment you attend to your thoughts and feelings in Proprioceptive Writing. Through this simple but profound method of expressing and reflecting upon thought, your natural sense of connection with the self is restored.

Where: The Mahoosuc Mountain Lodge, 1513 Bear River Rd., Newry, ME. From our lodge retreat in Grafton Notch look across to Old Speck Mountain in peak or near peak foliage.
Find out more about Mahoosuc.

Cost: The all inclusive cost includes meals Friday dinner through Sunday lunch, program sessions and lodging.

Proprioceptive Writing was originally discovered and developed
by Linda Trichter Metcalf, PhD. while teaching at Pratt in NYC. Later, Linda and Tobin Simon PhD lived and taught in both Rockland and Portland, Maine for many years.
Now, Kim Chandler, faculty of Proprioceptive Writing Center
and former Hurricane Island Outward Bound instructor returns
to her great state of Maine and the Mahoosuc Mountains
to teach this simple and profound practice.

About Proprioceptive Writing ®
Discover writing as a path to self-expression, creativity, and emotional health!
A simple method anyone can learn, Proprioceptive Writing® (PW) is a form of meditative writing that teaches you to listen to your thoughts with empathy and curiosity and reflect on them in writing. When engaging in this way you become open, receptive and focused. The mind is freed from anxiety and you feel refreshed, energized, and restored to your natural state of vibrant aliveness.
PW is a powerful tool that can focus awareness, dissolve inhibitions, and build self trust; unburden your mind and resolve emotional conflicts; write and speak with strength and clarity; awaken your senses and emotions; and liberate your creative energies.
Writing is not the end of the practice, but rather the means to gain insight into and power over how you live and think. In the short term PW invigorates your mind. Over time it strengthens your sense of self and connects you to the world. When practiced regularly, PW can bring a new sense of well-being and confidence that is vital to mental health and creativity.to listen to your thoughts with empathy and curiosity and reflect on them in writing. When engaging in this way you become open, receptive and focused. The mind is freed from anxiety and you feel refreshed, energized, and restored to your natural state of vibrant aliveness.
